I'm going to mull over what I want to focus on, then I'll post about it on my blog. Thanks for sharing the idea!

Good luck with achieving your "creating something" goals for this month :)

Glenda
http://wrenandstitchy.wordpress.comGlendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11304081149041159520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351655737864878604.post-7772792473116084572009-04-06T15:04:00.000-07:002009-04-06T15:04:00.000-07:00Yeah, one of my friends at work published a book t...Yeah, one of my friends at work published a book that was basically a cut/paste of all of the emails he sent as updates to friends/family when he was abroad for a year. He charges less than a dollar for the book and gets 25 cents a sell. The funny thing is that he doesn't get a royalty check from amazon until he reaches $10 . . . who knows when that's going to happen!sonjabegonia in chicagohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15026132137089599098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351655737864878604.post-78866591727375102952009-04-06T10:20:00.000-07:002009-04-06T10:20:00.000-07:00AND, I would bet there's going to be a whole bunch...AND, I would bet there's going to be a whole bunch of authors publishing direct to Kindle, now that it's starting to take. I looked into it, and there's a WAY easy interface to publish immediately, and set your own price, still having it listed through Amazon. OH! We should tell MOM!!!World's Largest Things, Inc.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00779728946426643908noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351655737864878604.post-20149399073255121082009-04-06T10:18:00.000-07:002009-04-06T10:18:00.000-07:00Wow - that's exactly what I'm trying to do! There a whole bunch of "Oh, that'll be handy for SOMETHING" multiple items laying around, so they're getting glued and painted and used this year.World's Largest Things, Inc.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00779728946426643908noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351655737864878604.post-67074468786894380622009-02-27T16:11:00.000-08:002009-02-27T16:11:00.000-08:00I appreciate you posting this. I'd never really looked at the Kindles because I don't like reading on a computer screen and I just assumed the Kindle screen would be like a computer screen. I watched the informational video and then forwarded the link to my mom, as this seems like something both she and I would enjoy.

That said, the cost of the reader + the downloads is the biggest hurdle for me. I use the library almost exclusively for my reading materials, and when I want to actually buy a book I try to wait until I have books to sell back so I can use store credit for my new purchases. It would be nice if amazon had an option where, for a flat monthly fee, you could read however many books you want to (similar to Netflix's instant view feature). Our library's downloaded audio books "expire" after two weeks (you can no longer access them on your computer), and then you have to check the book out again. Seems like amazon could implement something similar with their Kindles.

Anyhoo, thanks for the info about the Kindle 2! I may end up putting this on my birthday wish list this year =).Glendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11304081149041159520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351655737864878604.post-67568029143242540392009-02-27T00:20:00.000-08:002009-02-27T00:20:00.000-08:00Oh how I can relate to the first paragraph of this...Oh how I can relate to the first paragraph of this post!!! I do some work part-time from home and inevitably find myself putting my crafting aside at the very last moment so I can hustle and get my paperwork completed by whatever the deadline may be. In fact, I will be doing that very thing tomorrow ;-). I keep telling myself that I work better when I work right up at my deadline, and it does seem to be true, but it can get a little stressful. I don't mind doing household stuff, but I'm at home most of the time so it's easy for me to jump back and forth between household stuff and crafting. It's that darn paperwork that I get paid to do that I procrastinate about the most! (Yes, my boss, who is also my mom, is aware of that LOL -- she's the same way.)

Ohhhhh, I *love* to organize stuff. And I love to keep it organized. We have a small house and I do not have a craft room or nook, so I cannot horde crafting goodies or books like I used to when we had more space, but that's turned out to be a good thing. Have you seen that turquoise and red craft room that's one of the 2008 Craft of the Year posts on Craftster??? The shelves with all the jars . . . now THAT is right up my alley!!

I think whatever craft organization process works for you is what you should stick with. I get overwhelmed with having a lot of stuff around, and even more overwhelmed when what I have is not organized. So I organize my stuff, and keep what I have to a minimum. That's what works for me. But if keeping stuff organized in a way devised by someone else would drive you nuts, I say just do what you can happily live with =).Glendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11304081149041159520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351655737864878604.post-50771299767268389002009-02-27T00:08:00.000-08:002009-02-27T00:08:00.000-08:00Top Chef is my most favorite reality show ever -- ...Top Chef is my most favorite reality show ever -- this season and last season were especially enjoyable because there was a higher level of cooperation amongst the contestants -- I like seeing people work *with* each other, even if it is a competition. My favorite guest judges are the ones who offer constructive criticism -- Eric Ripert has been one of the most positive judges they've had. (As an aside, did you see Bourdain's show the time he and Ripert worked the kitchen in Bourdain's old restaurant for a night??? Hilarious!!)

It's only been within the past couple years that I learned to enjoy cooking and not view it as a chore. I watched the "cook fast and use shortcuts" shows on Food Network, like Rachel Ray's show. Then, as I became more comfortable in the kitchen and more comfortable not following a recipe 100%, I started watching Ina's and Giada's shows -- everything is not rush rush rush with them, which appeals to me because I am not a rush rush rush person in the kitchen either ;-). Jamie Oliver is one of my favorite people to watch cook -- did you catch him on Iron Chef last year? It was fun to watch.

When I was growing up, cooking and cleaning the kitchen was viewed as a chore. It's pretty cool to be at a point in my life where I've figured out cooking can be fun and relaxing and an excellent creative outlet . . . and I don't mind cleaning up after myself either ;-).Glendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11304081149041159520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351655737864878604.post-79047613507861662642009-02-23T14:24:00.000-08:002009-02-23T14:24:00.000-08:00It was actually the 12 Days of Christmas Swap that...It was actually the 12 Days of Christmas Swap that killed me. The TTT4 swap was intense, but I didn't feel too stressed. The 12 Days swap was absolutely insane. I truly don't know why I signed up for that swap. I think I wanted a challenge, but in the end, it's kind of strange to make all of those dozens of items for someone you will probably never meet. Looking back, I wish I'd devoted that time to making more/better Christmas gifts for friends/family. Oh well, live and learn.

The embroidery swap should be fun! I'm already looking forward to the gallery.sonjabegonia in chicagohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15026132137089599098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351655737864878604.post-67905758989736990702009-02-20T20:16:00.000-08:002009-02-20T20:16:00.000-08:00Hey sonjabegonia, it was a nice surprise to see yo...Hey sonjabegonia, it was a nice surprise to see you pop up on the list of folks signed up for the new Embroidery Swap on Craftster. It's my first swap since the TTT4 swap -- is that the swap that had you burned out by the end of it? I know that the week-turnaround deadline for each design got to be a real booger for me at times. By the time I was done with that swap, I was ready to not embroider for a while!!

The tree you stitched on gatsbygirl's pillow was one of my favorite designs of the swap. I enjoyed being able to see that one in person :).

~Glenda
http://wrenandstitchy.wordpress.comGlendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11304081149041159520noreply@blogger.com
